Players Like Collins Give You The Egde - Stew Scott

Stew Scott is predicting Beverley Town Reserves will come out on top in the 2pm derby with the Lord Nelson this Saturday.

In what Scott feels is the biggest derby on the football calendar in Beverley, the Lord Nelson will host Beverley Town Reserves at Longcroft School in the East Riding County League.

Speaking ahead of the match Scott seems convinced that Town has the edge going into the game with a squad that sees them welcome back Gary Collins.

Scott told HU17.net

“We are all pleased to have back the ‘semi professional’ experience in Collins as he has been a key member to our squad this season, players like him give you the edge in a derby game, I can see using winning 3 -1 on Saturday.”

“In recent matches, we have put in some very good performances, and I feel we were unlucky against Gilberdyke not to get all the points.”

“We will take our confidence from the past few weeks into this encounter. It promises to a good game and is the biggest fixture in the Beverley this weekend.”

This match of course features two teams, Scott when asked about the threat the opposition will offer said;

“We will not under-estimate the Lord Nelson as they have some good players, but I feel we will do enough to get the 3 points this week.

“The banned Matty Littlefield will be a big loss for them. They do Matthew Withell, who will be full of beans, dough and cheese for this match.”

“He has had a big two weeks recently, with The Beverley Food Festival and Domino’s takeaway, opening so will have plenty of energy in the tank.”

“James Chadburn is their best player, if we can keep him quiet in the middle of the park, then it will be a bonus for us.”

While some people may just dismiss this as a ‘lower league fixture’ Scott is keen to point out the importance of this fixture, he said;

“It’s the biggest Derby in the town at the moment, both teams are in the same league and Beverley Town first team don’t have any other team in their league that are from Beverley.”

“This game matters a lot to players and to the fans, anyone who thinks it does not matter is kidding themselves.”

Other players missing for Town include their hit man Alex Start, the striker who is scoring for fun has taken that form jetted off to Thailand for a two break.

His absence could leave the door open for Matthew Dixon or Collins up top as Town look at filling the void left by Start.
