Ceremony rooms across the East Riding have been upgraded to provide more elegant surroundings befitting the services which are held there.
Over the last few months, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Registration and Celebratory service has undertaken a programme of refurbishing some of the ceremony rooms where marriages, citizenship and other ceremonies are held.
Ceremony rooms at the district register office at Walkergate House in Beverley, Goole, Pocklington and most recently Bridlington have been transformed with new tables, chairs, carpets and curtains to create a bright, modern room which still retains an elegant, dignified and traditional feel.
This is the first time the rooms, which are also venues for naming ceremonies, have undergone major refurbishment since 2002.
Councillor Margaret Chadwick, said:
“The ceremony rooms are used for such special occasions, and they have to live up to the expectations of those who book the rooms for their celebration.”
“I am proud to know that the East Riding ceremony rooms are now of the highest quality and befitting the importance of the ceremonies that are performed in our registration offices.”
