Beverley rider Dominic Usher rode to a fine ninth position in round five of the National Superstock 1000 championship at Snetterton on Sunday and moves to ninth in the rider standings on 24 points.
Dom qualified well in 11th place and began the 14 lap race on Sunday from a fourth row grid position. But as he rounded Agostini’s on the first lap he was lucky to remain in control as he had a massive high side on the DU Racing BMW. Despite losing ground Dom managed to stay upright and continued on his way crossing the line for the start of lap two in 12th position.
He settled down into his race rhythm and began to pick of the riders ahead until he passed James East on lap 12 to take up ninth position. he held station for the remaining three laps to cross the finish line in ninth to pick up another seven championship points bringing his total to date to 24.
Dom said: “I thought I was off on the first lap when I was caught out by a cold tyre but managed to recover and continue. We thought we would have a tough race this weekend as Snetterton is my worst circuit. I am not too keen on the track but thanks to Clive Padgett and my team who helped me this weekend we did ok. The next few rounds should be good as they are some of my best circuits, Knockhill, Brands Hatch and Thruxton and I hope to do well and score some more points.”
The next round is at Knockhill in Scotland over the weekend of July 3-5 when Dom will be seeking another top result to add to his points tally.
