NHS East Riding of Yorkshire Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG) held its Annual General Meeting on Wednesday 24 June 2015 and was pleased with the interest shown by the local community.
More than 100 people from a cross-section of the local community, including representatives from the voluntary sector, the council, public health, healthcare providers and members of the public attended to hear about how the CCG is working with partners and providers to transform and improve local health and social care services for the future.
Jane Hawkard, Chief Officer, highlighted the CCG’s key achievements during 2014/15 in particular how dementia diagnosis rates have improved, enabling 750 more people to be diagnosed and treated earlier for dementia. How access to talking therapy services has increased ensuring 850 more people received timely help and support.
Looking ahead Dr Gina Palumbo, Clinical Chair drew attention to the CCG’s forthcoming plans to explain how the CCG is improving health inequalities and focussing on prevention and health promotion. The future will see a greater emphasis on enhancing access to services that are joined up across both primary and community care to offer a more responsive service that meets the needs of local communities.
Dr Gina Palumbo, Clinical Chair said: “The AGM was a success and we are greatly encouraged by the breadth of interest taken in the work of our organisation. It provided a valuable opportunity to discuss our plans for the future and hear people’s views and perspectives.
“Our aim is to shape services to ensure people get the right care in the right place when they need it. To do this we need to change the way we deliver services. However the public can help us by making small changes too. We want people to be wise when using NHS resources, make sure you choose the most appropriate service for your condition. Listen to prevention and health messages and take greater responsibility for your own health.
“Get involved with the CCG and your local community groups and play an active part in the way your healthcare services are being transformed. We want you to welcome and support an improved health and care system that continues to deliver safe, quality and affordable services for years to come.”
