Maps Encourage Cyclists in Beverley To Get On Their Bikes

Cyclists in East Yorkshire can try out dozens of new leisure cycle routes starting from the various locations in Bevelrey and across the East Riding.

Using free maps produced by the council’s transport policy team it is hoped people will be encouraged to get on their bikes and try cycling as a healthy and sustainable way of travelling around the local area.

There are town centre walking/cycling maps for key towns showing the walking routes most likely to have dropped kerbs/tactile pavings and to be treated in extreme winter weather and the cycle routes in the area.

Towns in the East Riding that maps are are available for include Beverley, Bridlington, Driffield, Goole and Haltemprice.

There are also maps showing circular leisure cycling routes with rides of between 1 and 30 miles, suitable for everyone from novice cyclists to experienced riders. These are available for the Beverley, Driffield, Pocklington, Goole and South Holderness areas.

Councillor Andy Burton, said: “We have been extremely pleased with the popularity of our walking and cycling maps and leisure cycle maps.”

“Cycling is a great way to get active while exploring the beautiful East Yorkshire countryside and we hope that local and visiting cyclists will enjoy the rides included on these maps.”

The maps can be downloaded for free from the transport policy page on the council’s website or copies can be requested by emailing transport.policy@eastriding.gov.uk

Copies can also be obtained from tourist information centres or by calling the transport policy team on (01482) 391756.
