Parkrun runners who took part in the Beverley’s inaugural Beverley Westwood Parkrun have praised those behind the event.
Around 400 runners took part in the event which has has been widely praised by those who ran the course.
Councillor Denis Healy is challenging his colleagues to take part in the new Beverley Westwood Parkrun.
His comments come after he took part and completed the first-ever Parkrun held in the town.

Beverley AC celebrated the achievements of its Couch to 5k participants at Peter Pan Parkrun on Saturday 1 September, with runners taking part in the 5 kilometre run to successfully complete the 15-week course, which began in May.
Twenty-seven Couch to 5k runners completed the course at Peter Pan Park in West Hull, cheered on by marshals and encouraged by over 250 fellow runners, many of whom regularly attend to run the free 5k event every Saturday morning.
Specsavers in Beverley is once again sponsoring the Beverley Athletics Club by supporting the Walkington 10k road race.
As an official sponsor of the race, which is held every July, the Specsavers store on Toll Gavel provided sponsored shirts complete with Specsavers logo which were handed out to participants on completion of the race.
Hundreds of runners descended on the village of Walkington to tackle the challenging course of the Walkington 10k and Family Fun Run in very warm conditions.
With the main event seeing 515 finishers, the top prize went to Jonathan Carter of Tipton Harriers, who was first home in a time of 32 minutes, 44 seconds.
The Pittaway Beverley 10k road race saw a record 1,850 runners descend on the town for the 25th running of the event on Sunday 13 May, which was started by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu.
Organised by Beverley Athletic Club, the run has become one of the best-loved annual events in the town’s calendar, attracting thousands of runners, spectators and Beverley residents alike.
A vast number of runners pulled on their trainers to take apart in the 25th Beverley 10K. On day that offered great conditions for running, the event proved to be a huge success.

Beverley Athletic Club say they are excited to announce the news that Olympic gold and bronze medal-winning rower Phelan Hill MBE will be competing in the 25th running of the Pittaway Beverley 10k road race, on Sunday 13 May 2018.
As cox, Phelan steered the Mens Eight to bronze at the London 2012 Olympics and onto gold in Rio 2016. He has also coxed the Mens Eights to three successive rowing World Championship golds.
With the autumn marathon season now behind us, the members of Beverley Athletic Club can look forward to winter.
Winter heralds a bumper stocking full of running events, including the challenging local cross country series of races, a sprinkling of road races and the club’s infamous round-the-town Santa Run.
Beverley AC has seen an extremely busy summer, with members running in several high profile events, with some very noteworthy performances.
Fourteen Beverley runners were fortunate enough to experience the huge Great North Run on 10 September, with nine completing the 13.1 mile course in under two hours.
Beverley Athletic Club will be extending the hand of friendship to all as they host the 2017 Beaver Trail next month.
Taking place on 19 November, club runners and members of the community are being invited to take part in an even that spans back 18 years.
