Beverley RUFC continued their good start to the season following the Yorkshire Cup first round win away against Pocklington with a resounding 43 – 0 home win against York.
This win was against a sadly depleted York team who started with fourteen players and Beverley were soon able to make their player advantage count.
Beverley came under pressure immediately after losing the kick-off and Rishworthians camped in Beverley’s 22. After 9 minutes they were awarded the inevitable penalty and Josh Kelly made the score 3-0 to the home side.
The pressure continued and things looked ominous for the Beavers when Rishworthian’s tricky young winger Joe Billing sliced through for an excellent try which Josh Kelly duly converted to make it 10-0.
Beverley RUFC Colts were knocked out of the Yorkshire Cup by Pocklington on the ‘Away Team’ rule after they drew 12-12 at Beaver Park.
Pocklington enjoyed the lion share of possession and territory though it was Beverley who took the lead when Brandon Leggett broke through to run 50 yards to score.
Beverley RUFC registered their fist with on the season as they beat Middlesbrough 28-12 at Beaver Park to go fourth in the Yorkshire Division One table.
On the pitch the Beavers fielded a new look like side with some making their first team debuts in a match against a side like Beverley lost on the opening day.
Conditions were perfect for this season’s opener between York and Beverley at Clifton Park and what a cracking match this turned out to be.
York opened the scoring after 5 minutes with a penalty from in front of the Beverley posts but a Phil Duboulay penalty levelled for Beverley after 13 minutes to make it 3-3.
After a bumper senior Pock 7s on Good Friday, the youngsters got in on the seven-a-side act at Percy Road on Sunday.
24 teams produced another six hour try feast in the Pocklington Junior Charity Sevens, sponsored by Agriyork 400, with Beverley coming through at the end of the day to finish Under 14 runners up.
Beverley rounded off the season in rampant mood as they demolished a very determined Acklam side by 67 points to 10.
From the kick-off Beverley put pressure on the Acklam line but were unable to break through. This was largely due to the number of infringements by the Acklam forwards which resulted in four penalties and a yellow card for them within the first 5 minutes.
Beverley RUFC travelled to Leeds on Saturday and were able to record their 11 th victory in their last 13 matches, this despite the disruption of arriving half an hour late due to the team coach breaking down on the journey.
This meant that the pre match warm up needed to be curtailed but nevertheless they started brightly and after 8 minutes Jack Garvin raced in for an excellent try on the right wing which Phil Duboulay converted to give them a 7 point lead.
What a great day for Beverley RUFC. Beautiful weather and the Clubhouse packed to the rafters as they celebrated Ladies Day in aid of the Charity, Hull and East Riding Breast Friends.
All that was needed to make the day perfect was some good and exciting rugby and that requirement was certainly met.
Beverley RUFC U14s ruthlessly disposed of Hull Ionians at Beaver Park on Sunday, coming away with a 38-5 victory in their final home game of the season.
The victory demonstrated the progress the team has made over the season, playing 28 matches, 16 wins, 11 losses and a draw, including an appearance in the Yorkshire Plate Final.

On this occasion Will Turnbull of the Beverley RUFC First team came to give support and encouragement to the children which helped to keep them focused and engaged in the games.
Beverley Under 14s had a convincing 29-12 win away at Malton on Sunday, having beaten the Malton team 69-0 at home earlier in the season they knew this would be a very different game, Malton would be stronger and the referee was likely to favour the home team and the pre match assumptions proved to be correct.
That said so long as Beverley played structured rugby and were disciplined in response to decisions they would come through and win the game.
Beverley RUFC Under 14s travelled to Yarnbury knowing that another tough test was waiting for them, Yarnbury have lost only two games all season.
Beverley knew they would need to be at their very best to come away with a result, and with key and influential players in captain Ben Wilkinson and Nathan Cullen out through injury, the task was made even more difficult.
The under 8s played away at Hullensians on March 12th in very muddy conditions but that did not dampen the enthusiasm of all in attendance.
Five matches were played against Wetherby, Hullensians, and Withernsea. The first match against Withersea saw great team work and organisation with the team using available space to score many tries.
This was a great performance by a Beverley side heavily outweighed by their much bigger opponents who badly needed a win to maintain their challenge to make the playoff for promotion to North 1.
Phil Duboulay opened the scoring for the Beavers with a penalty after 10 minutes and after 17 minutes Beverley went further ahead with a smart try from Luke Hazell which Phil Duboulay duly converted to make it 10-0 to the home side.
