This year the Treasure House in Beverley is celebrating Heritage Open Days through a fascinating series of online videos giving virtual visitors a unique insight into the inner workings of the Treasure House linked to this year’s national theme, ‘Hidden Nature.’

Many of the videos make reference to the natural world and how it relates to the Treasure House collections, or to the roles of members of staff who work with them. Other videos reveal the ‘hidden nature’ of how the Treasure House works behind the scenes.

Residents will have a chance to catch a glimpse of an iconic WWII aircraft. On Thursday 10 September the Defence School of Transport will be commemorating the 80th anniversary of the Battle of Britain.

Lobster Hatchery And Research Laboratory Opens In Bridlington

A new lobster hatchery and research laboratory has opened in Bridlington, with the aim of producing important research on fishing grounds off the East Riding coast.

The development of the Yorkshire Marine Research Centre, based on the South Pier overlooking the harbour, has been developed by the Holderness Fishing Industry Group in close association with the Holderness Coast Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG), which contributed 50% of the capital cost of the new facility, sourced from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund.

Residents and businesses in Hull are being asked to support the final push in a long campaign to electrify and upgrade the railway lines from Hull to Selby and Hull to Sheffield.

If successful, it could cut journey times from Hull to Leeds from 57 minutes to just 38 minutes, and Hull to Sheffield from 86 minutes to just 50 minutes.
