Residents To Access Faster Broadband Thanks To Funding Boost

Homes and businesses in rural parts of the East Riding will be able to access faster and more reliable internet speeds thanks to extra funding from East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

As part of the Government’s £22million Gigabit Broadband Voucher Scheme, the council has committed an additional £500,000 to help its residents and businesses in hard-to-reach places to get even better connected as part of a group scheme.

On a recent visit to the Defence School of Transport, the Director of Land Warfare, Major General James Illingworth OBE, surprised a member of staff with a prestigious Director Land Warfare Coin.  

Sgt Gary Pryor, a specialist instructor at Normandy Barracks, Leconfield, was conducting a mock driving test with a student when he found himself at the scene of an accident involving a car and a motorcycle.

Funding Approval Will End 15-Year Wait For New Health Centre

A new medical centre which was first proposed nearly 15 years ago has cleared its final hurdle after funding was approved by the East Riding of Yorkshire NHS Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG).

Work could start by the end of this year on the site in Lowfield Road, Anlaby, with construction expected to take 12 months, and the new centre will reflect the advances in facilities and the increase in demand over recent years.
