Hull Fair Brought To Life In Digital Exhibition

The exhibition, Hull Fair, includes specially commissioned videos of the iconic and historic annual event, interviews with regular fairgoers explaining why the fair means so much to them, as well as pictures and objects that have been kindly submitted by the public.

Local Retiree To Debut Works At An Exhibition At Burton Constable Hall

A retiree from Brough who took up painting again in his 50s, but who had barely touched a paintbrush since his time at the Liverpool Institute High School for Boys where he was inspired by art master Stanley Reed RA, is staging his first solo art exhibition this month.

Retirement gave Peter Ainsworth, 73, the time to pursue his hobby more intensively. He has painted around 24 paintings during this time, mostly pastel landscapes including some scenes of the Yorkshire Wolds and East Riding, and of favourite spots in North Derbyshire and Lincolnshire.

Detective Inspector Andy Crawforth said: “Unfortunately we have had a number of reports recently where houses have been broken into and car keys have been stolen. These keys have then been used to steal vehicles from outside, with a number of high powered cars recently reported stolen.

Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, has welcomed just under £55 million investment into small businesses in Yorkshire and the Humber since 2012.

This comes as the British Business Bank has recently issued its 75,000th loan through its ‘Start-Up Loans’ programme – which has seen a total of over £623 million invested into small businesses across the country.
