Families In East Riding Of Yorkshire Are Being Urged To Talk About Organ Donation

New figures published by NHS Blood and Transplant (NHSBT) show that last year (2019/20) 1,580 people in the UK donated their organs after they died. In East Riding Of Yorkshire, 11 people gave the gift of life, by donating their organs after death.

The national deceased organ donor figures were on course to surpass the previous year’s total, but unfortunately, the global COVID-19 pandemic hit in March and had a wide-reaching impact across the whole NHS and every aspect of UK society.

Skidby Historic Windmill & Museum Re-Opens To Public

Skidby windmill which was built in 1821, and is the home of the Museum of East Riding Rural Life, is due to open its doors again on Monday, 20 July after being closed during the lockdown.

The mill’s opening hours will remain the same as before: Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday 10.00am-5.00pm, closed for lunch 12.30pm-1.00pm, last admissions at 4.15pm. These times may be subject to change.

Taxi Monopoly Forces Hull Drivers To Create New Trade Association

Faced with what is being called a ‘virtual monopoly’, taxi drivers in Hull have banded together to form a new Hull Drivers Association (HDA).

The not-for-profit association has been set up by members of the city’s licensed taxi trade to protect the interests and the welfare of every licensed taxi driver in Hull, which is now dominated by just two main private hire taxi firms, Drive and 82.
