Student Awarded Prestigious Diana Award For Volunteering Efforts

Bishop Burton College student Kieran Woodall is celebrating after being awarded a Diana Award for his services as a Covid vaccination volunteer during the pandemic.

Kieran was nominated for the prestigious award after volunteering over 800 hours in support of the nationwide Covid vaccination programme. This is the most hours volunteered by an under-18 in the country.

Queen’s Baton Relay Celebrated In The East Riding of Yorkshire

Hundreds of people lined the streets this morning as the East Riding welcomed the Queen’s Baton Relay through Beverley and Market Weighton.

The Baton’s journey started at Beverley Minster with the Mayor of Beverley, Cllr Linda Johnson, chairman of the East Riding of Yorkshire Council, John Whittle and portfolio holder for economic investment, growth and tourism at the council, Cllr Jane Evison, present to send the first Batonbearer on their way towards Highgate.

Short Term Road Closures For Queens Baton Relay Events

Short-term road closures in Beverley and Market Weighton will be in place on Wednesday, 13 July 2022 as the East Riding welcomes the Queen’s Baton Relay to the area.

The Relay is due to begin at Beverley Minster at 10:17 and end near Longcroft School at 10:50. The Baton will then travel to Market Weighton where the Relay will begin at Beverley Road roundabout at 11:16 and finish just before the A1079 roundabout at 11:30.
