Community Event In Memory Of Ivan Usher To Take Place This Month

Sunday, 26 June, 2022, will see a major community event at East Riding Leisure Beverley, when many local organisations, sports clubs and local residents will come together for the Beverley What’s On Community Event in memory of Ivan Usher, from 10am to 3pm.

Those attending will have the chance to try out a wide range of activities and sports, support local clubs taking part in football and rugby matches, and find out more about what’s going on in Beverley.

Elizabeth (Liz) Hallett was born and grew up in Beverley. 

For almost 30 years she was one of the local District Nursing Sisters. When she was 7 years of age and a brownie, she had her first taste of fundraising when her dad made her a box to go on the back of her bicycle and she wrote letters asking people to donate paperback books for the Blue Peter RNLI inshore lifeboat appeal.

The Beverley Building Society team have been a little busier than usual during the last two weeks of May, raising much-needed funds for its Charity of the Year for 2022, the Beverley Cherry Tree Community Centre.

From Monday 16 May to Friday 20 May, the Society’s team bravely took on a 211-mile ‘Beverley to Buckingham Palace’ Exercise Bike Challenge (the equivalent distance of the actual route), in advance of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Humber Bridge To Fly Union Flag As Part Of Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

Organisers of a spectacular Platinum Jubilee flotilla and flypast have revealed plans to apply the finishing touch to the celebrations by flying the Union Flag from two of the highest points in the region.

Hessle Town Council has secured an agreement with the Humber Bridge Board to raise the flags on each of the two towers of the Bridge on the evening of Wednesday 1 June, the eve of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.
