Cotton-Top Tamarin monkeys Consuela and Maurice are nurturing tiny twins . The distinctive monkeys, among the smallest primates in the world, are a critically endangered species and the park is a designated conservation hub to help save them from extinction. The adults share parental duties with Maurice as likely as Consuela to be carrying the youngsters on his back.

Agriculture, Animal Management, and Equine students put on an impressive display at Bishop Burton College during the 63rd Stock Skills competition.
Stock Skills prepares students for a large country show by preparing them for a variety of tasks. Each student prepares for the event by practicing grooming and clipping skills, and ensuring the animal’s diet means it is in optimum condition. They compete in Dairy, Sheep, Goat, and Equine classes. Competing requires the development of specialist skills and knowledge that can also be transferred to the workplace.

Four gardens in the East Yorkshire village of Shiponthorpe will open to the public to raise money for charity on the 1st and 2nd of June.
The gardens are part of the National Garden Scheme’s ‘Gardens Open For Charity’ initiative that raises millions of pounds annually.

With Samaritans being Charity of the Year for the TCS London Marathon 2024, Hull Samaritans set their own challenges to coincide with the internationally-recognised event.
Supporters Michael Starkey and Callum Norsworthy rowed a 24 hour non-stop relay on the Market Cross in Beverley, from 1.00pm Saturday 20th April to 1.00pm Sunday 21st April.

Electric Bus Rollout Plan Is Approved By The Council’s Cabinet
Following a successful bid to the Government to fund electric buses in Hull and the East Riding, Hull City Council’s cabinet has approved plans to enable the purchase of 40 electric buses and the allocation of circa £2million of funding from the authority for the installation of charging infrastructure to support the rollout of the vehicles in the city, including for the use of local bus operators and the council’s own fleet of passenger vehicles.

Tesco Community Grants have funded thousands of local community projects across the UK, helping schools, junior sports teams, foodbanks, charities and community groups. Since 2016 almost a hundred local projects voted on in Tesco’s Beverley store have received over £190,000 in grants.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is supporting the ‘Check. Think. Report.’ campaign, which was launched across Europe on International Missing Children’s Day.
The campaign is launching in 16 countries and 14 languages by AMBER Alert Europe, The European Centre for Missing Children. It is aimed at parents and caregivers, provides them with a comprehensive step-by-step guide on what to do and what to expect if their child goes missing.

Record Success As Charity Footgolf Day Scores A Hole-In-One
A Charity Footgolf Day has scored a hole-in-one at its third ever event, raising more than the previous two years’ fundraising days combined!
The 360 Grass Roots Foundation and Hull & East Yorkshire Powerchair Football Club, who teamed up to host the event, raised £3,466 in profit this year. Around 150 people took part, with 31 teams entering, more than ever before. For the first time, they also invited hole sponsors. It’s proved a winning formula, with the record amount being split equally between both causes

Bus Connectivity Plan To Be Published By Council
To improve and enhance bus services within the city, Hull City Council’s Cabinet has approved proposals for its Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP) for 2024/2025.
Through the Hull Bus Alliance, the council will work with local bus operators, Stagecoach and East Yorkshire Buses, to improve bus frequency, pilot new routes, and introduce fare discounts so that bus passenger numbers will grow, traffic congestion will be reduced, and air quality will improve.
