Stamford Bridge Road Bridge To Be Repaired This Summer
An essential repair scheme is to be carried out to strengthen the historic road bridge at Stamford Bridge, near York, following years of damage.
The 80m-long village bridge, built in 1727 – making it almost 300 years old – has been struck in traffic accidents over the past few years, causing severe damage to its parapets.

Bishop Burton College Butchery Apprentice Wins National Award
Luke Hobson, butchery apprentice with Bishop Burton College was named Best Apprentice Showing Management Potential in a Manufacturing Environment at the Institute of Meat (IoM) and Worshipful Company of Butchers (WCB) Annual Prizegiving, held at Butchers Hall in London, on 29th February.
Luke, who competed against butchery apprentices from around the country, is pursuing an Advanced Butcher qualification while holding the position of Trainee Supervisor of the process hall, within the factory at Pilgrim’s UK Lamb Ltd (formerly Randall Parker Foods).

Cross Party Member Led Budget Tries To Provide Lifeboat For Residents
For the first time in 17 years, the East Riding of Yorkshire council has passed a budget, shaped and influenced by the opposition groups, and reflects the new no overall control situation on the council.
The Conservative leadership needed to make budget concessions to the Liberal Democrat, Labour and Yorkshire Party groups in order to deliver a budget which was approved by 53 votes at today’s budget council meeting.

Ofsted Outcome Adds To National Recognition For Longcroft School
Longcroft School and Sixth Form are celebrating the outcome of their recent Section 5 Ofsted Inspection, which has further validated the school’s exceptional progress over recent years. Inspectors were hugely complimentary about the school and effusive in their recognition of the journey it has travelled since previous inspections.

MP Ensures Beverley And Molescroft Councillors Have Their Say On Telegraph Poles
Graham Stuart, Member of Parliament for Beverley and Holderness, brought together cross-party councillors from across Beverley and Molescroft to express their concerns to Connexin, the Hull-based fibre broadband provider, about its planned delivery of broadband by telegraph poles to the town.
After seeing other neighbourhoods have telegraph poles imposed on them without sufficient consultation, Graham convened the councillors around the table with Connexin to ensure the people of Beverley and Molescroft have their voices heard.

Toll Gavel was given a treat on Christmas Eve by a group of carol singers who were singing to raise money for Hull Samaritans. The group was organised by Dodi Beardshaw and comprised family members and friends. From 11.00 am to 1.00 pm they raised £677.00.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) grant scheme is now open to support providers to deliver fun activities for children and young people aged 5-16 years who are in receipt of benefits related free school meals in the Easter holidays.
There’s up to £5,000 available for organisations to provide activities including sport, play, drama, cooking, crafts, dance, music, healthy lifestyles, art or outdoor adventures.

Sports Fans Are Asked To Support Their Teams By Staying Safe
National first aid and healthcare charity St John Ambulance is giving local football and rugby fans an opportunity to join a new team of first aid volunteers who will specialise in stadium first aid.
The charity is hoping that Hull City and the town’s rugby supporters will step forward to train as first aiders and volunteer at either the MKM Stadium or The Sewell Group Craven Park Stadium during home football and rugby games, or both.
