Beverley’s Mayor Draws Treasure Hunt Winners

Throughout the Summer, a Treasure Hunt was held in Beverley, with all proceeds going toward the amazing work of SCOPE. 

Organised by the Mayor of Beverley, Councillor Linda Johnson, all complete and correct entries were entered into a prize draw, with three lucky winners each receiving a £20 voucher for Pizza Rodizio.

After the turgid rugby of the British Lions South African tour watching rugby again as it should be played has been like a breath of fresh air. Sadly today it all came from Crossleyans.

Beverley were given the runaround for the whole of the first half and much of the second by a side which looked twice as determined and twice as quick. After their fine performance the previous week this was a hugely disappointing showing even allowing for the superior quality of this week’s opposition.

Japanese Themed Exhibition Coming To Beverley Art Gallery

Opening on Saturday, 16 October at Beverley Art Gallery will be ‘Reflections of Japan in East Yorkshire’, a unique exhibition bringing together a selection of items from private collections across East Yorkshire and artwork by Laura Boswell.

The idea for the exhibition came about more than two years ago when the Japanese Embassy introduced the ‘Japan-UK Season of Culture’, a celebration of the many facets of Japanese culture in the UK.

A professor who played a key role in the progress of the Daisy Appeal is now backing the charity as a fundraiser with a coast to coast walk across the north of England.

Steve Haswell, who worked with the Daisy Appeal in his role as a professor in chemistry at the University of Hull, has been joined on the trek by his son Simon, who works in the laboratories at Castle Hill Hospital, Cottingham.

At last, Rugby returned to Beaver Park with Beverley entertaining Old Rishworthian RFC from Halifax and entertained them and a reasonable crowd to some highly promising rugby.

The Beavers have lost a number of last years squad but look to have a useful set of youngsters ready to replace them. Playing towards the clubhouse they took an early lead after 10 minutes through a Phil Duboulay penalty (3-0).
