Campaign For Festive Wellness Has Been Launched

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has launched a Festive Wellness campaign aimed at supporting people with the most common topics people reach out for help with during the festive period.

The campaign includes 12 days of Christmas Cheer. 12 days of Christmas typically starts on Christmas Day and sees us into the New Year. These can be both the greatest and some of the hardest days we go through in the year.

As winter tightens its grip, residents in the East Riding on low incomes are being urged to check whether they are eligible for help with food and energy bills from the latest Household Support Fund payments.

Applications to the Fund have reopened, and payments of £350 are available to help those on low incomes or unpaid carers facing increasing energy and food bills. The payments are available to anybody in the East Riding who is eligible and who has not previously received a payment.

Children of Kingswood United Football Club in Hull will be playing in new threads thanks to a little help from the new community grant scheme at Tesco.

The Kingswood United Panthers Under 9’s team received £1,170 from the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme. They will use the grant to provide the kids with their team kits, and equipment to play and train with, along with access to indoor facilities as the evenings get darker and colder.

On Wednesday, 29 November 2023, Hull City Council will hold two public engagement events in partnership with East Riding of Yorkshire Council and the region’s two main bus operators, East Yorkshire Buses and Stagecoach.

From 10am-1.30pm, East Yorkshire Buses will be providing a fully electric, zero-emission, single-deck demonstrator Volvo BZL bus at Queen Victoria Square, Hull, and from 2-3.30pm at Hessle Square. No appointment is necessary for residents and local stakeholders to attend.

The Beverley Guildhall’s ‘Popup Memory Museum’ is back with ‘Three Streets’ – video presentations featuring old photos of Beverley aimed at stimulating people’s memories. This first presentation compares 1960s and 1970s shops with how Toll Gavel looked in 2022, by highlighting the differences between them.

The other two presentations, A walk along Ladygate, and The Globe Inn & Sow Hill take viewers on a journey along Ladygate and around the Sow Hill area with photos from the 1960s and 70s. This shows how the area around Ladygate has changed since the Globe Inn was demolished and Sow Hill Road was built.
