19,000 Children Risk Waking Up to Nothing This Christmas Morning

In 2015 Cash for Kids ‘Mission Christmas’ appeal helped more than 18,000 disadvantaged children across East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire.

On Monday 14th November, Cash for Kids launched Mission Christmas 2016. The aim of the campaign is to make sure that every child in East Yorkshire and Northern Lincolnshire wakes up to a present on Christmas morning.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council is excited by today’s announcement that the 2017 Tour de Yorkshire will start in Bridlington on Friday, 28 April and will take in a number of East Yorkshire settlements, including Driffield and Pocklington, on its way to the stage one finish in Scarborough.

Similar to the inaugural event in 2015, the race will start outside The Spa Bridlington in front of a large crowd, anticipated to be in the tens of thousands, before the riders leave the town

People in Hull can be part of a human ribbon of red light to mark World Aids Day tonight. People are invited to the Stage@theDock amphitheatre, where they will be given a red light to hold up. Participants will form a red Aids ribbon and a photograph will be taken and shared on social media.

The event is organised by sexual health organisation Yorkshire Mesmac, which will join people and organisations around the globe in marking World Aids Day.

Hull City Council, in partnership with Hull Culture and Leisure, has secured over £106,000 for a new tennis court facility and a hard surface playing area at Costello Playing Fields in Hull.

Following a successful bid to the Lawn Tennis Association for funding of £106,626, with an additional £60,000 being provided from the Council’s West Area Committee, a condemned former tennis court area in the park will now receive a new lease of life.
