Newland Avenue To Re-Open Temporarily For Motorists During Hull Fair

Newland Avenue will reopen temporarily on Monday 2 October for two weeks to allow full access to Hull Fair for public transport, emergency services, and motorists.

Phase one has been completed ahead of schedule, allowing the road to be reopened. This will give unrestricted access to businesses along Newland Avenue, and allow the scheduled bus services to travel along the street during this period.

Newland Avenue will be closed to through traffic to allow these essential carriageway maintenance works to be carried out, and 3,800 letters are to be delivered to residents and businesses in the surrounding area.

Offenders involved in the Community Payback scheme have revitalised a cycle track ready for a bike ride by local primary pupils.

Year 6 students from St George’s Primary School will tackle the Hull to Hornsea ride on Wednesday June 21, with support from teachers, the local Community Policing Team, Bob’s Bikes, Giroscope and a group of local Sustrans volunteers.

From today, Wednesday 21 December, free Wi-Fi will be available at the Marina and Princes Dock Street, ahead of City of Culture’s opening event, ‘In with a Bang’.

Local company Connexin were appointed earlier in the year to deliver free open air Wi-Fi across the city centre, including Jameson Street, King Edward Street, Queen Victoria Square, Whitefriargate, parts of the Old Town, Queens Gardens and Paragon Interchange, with a view to extending coverage even further across the city during 2017.
