Beverley Art Gallery’s new online exhibition called Legacy shows the mixed media artwork of Paul Clifford, a British multi-media artist and academic who has developed his career in the UK and internationally.
Paul’s work is inspired by the First World War memories of his father, who served in Egypt as part of the East Riding Yeomanry regiment.

Beverley Art Gallery has acquired – and put on display – a painting by local artist Fred Elwell, which was purchased by the Friends of Beverley Art Gallery.
The painting is a black and white image, signed and dated 1896. This dates to the time that Elwell lived in Paris where he studied at Academie Julian, an independent school where lots of artists from all over the world studied at that time.
Entries will soon be open for the 22nd annual Open Art exhibition, which will be at Beverley Art Gallery from 6 December through until 29 February 2020.

Two Elwell Paintings from the unique collection of the work of Fred and Mary Elwell at Beverley Art Gallery have made the journey to York to form part of a major exhibition there.
The two paintings loaned to York Art Gallery are Fred Elwell’s ‘Refugees in my Studio’ from 1940, and ‘Artist in his studio’, an undated work, but probably dating to earlier in his career at the turn of the century.
Rhik Samadder, actor and Guardian columnist, will be at Beverley Art Gallery on Friday, 18 October, at 3.30pm as part of the East Riding Festival of Words.
His first book, ‘I never said I loved you’, takes readers on a voyage of discovery through his own mental health and recovery from depression.
There will be a chance to join artist-photographer Nii Obodai on Saturday, 28 September at 2pm at Beverley Art Gallery to find out how his time exploring the East Riding went on to inspire his new exhibition, ‘Of Natural Magic’, which is currently on display in the Gallery.
