A number of council services will be closed temporarily as they move their location to the newly refurbished Champney Treasure House.
Alongside the tourist information centre and customer service centre on Cross Street, Beverley Library will also be making the move from its temporary location within County Hall in Beverley.
East Riding Libraries are celebrating Make Music Day on Friday, 21 June 2024. Featuring a series of events and live music, residents will be able to get musical across the East Riding! With drop in events at libraries and singers popping up in towns across the county, it’s sure to be a day to remember.
Some of our events will include a singer in Little Weighton in partnership with the mobile library, and a Dolly Parton tribute singing her way around Driffield! On Saturday, 22 June, Beverley Folk Festival have partnered with Beverley Library to bring a selection of singers to the venue in the afternoon.
Work on the exciting transformation of the Treasure House in Champney Road in Beverley is expected to begin in September.
A new customer service centre and the enhanced library will be built as part of the £3.3 million project, and the council’s registration services will be relocated to the building from Walkergate House.

A new service is set to be launched in East Yorkshire at Beverley Library. East Riding Libraries will launch the new service on Wednesday, 5 October, with an event from 2pm to 4pm.
Scientists, engineers, artists, and mathematicians make up STREAM, the new service.
Libraries in East Yorkshire, including Beverley Library, will be hosting a series of events next month with ArtERY Live.
Every year, ArtERY Live brings the best in live performance to East Yorkshire, including dance, drama, music, and poetry. These performers will be performing at East Riding Libraries for the first time.
The East Riding Festival of Words is back for 2022, and this year it will start earlier than usual with the Children’s Festival, which will feature 21 events at various East Riding Libraries between 30 July and 9 August.
The Children’s Festival will present terrific tales, creative crafts, and fantastic facts in a varied programme which will celebrate children’s love of reading and stimulate their imagination.
It is being planned for the council’s local growth team to do two days of activities in the centre of Beverley towards the end of the month.
There will be no pre-registration required for the events, and there will be no charge to attend. Over the course of two days, a variety of family entertainment will be provided by outside vendors as well as council-sponsored teams and community organisations.

The new exhibition, which is now open at the Treasure House in Beverley, ‘Birds, Books and Belfries,’ explores the remarkable life and work of parson-naturalist Reverend Francis Orpen Morris (1810 – 1893) who studied nature, wrote books and campaigned for wildlife, all combined with his role as vicar of Nafferton and later Nunburnholme.
Entrepreneurs and small businesses in The East Riding of Yorkshire celebrated the launch of their new Business & IP Centres opening in Beverley Library, Bridlington Central Library and Goole Library.
The launch event in Beverley Library was attended by 24 people, who were impressed with the range of resources available and will be coming back in their own time to explore them further.
