A new production by the Beverley Theatre Company (BTC) will be adapted from Robert Louis Stephenson’s famous novella ‘Jekyll and Hyde’ by Nicholas Briggs.
Many versions of the story of a doctor who transforms into the evil Mr Hyde have been adapted over the years, including Spencer Tracy’s 1941 film version and James Nesbitt’s 2007 BBC adaptation.

Organisers of the 2021 East Riding Festival of Words – which saw live events return – have declared this year’s Festival a big success.

The popular Elwell Trail, which consisted of 22 reproductions of paintings by Fred or Mary Elwell displayed on external walls in various locations in or near Beverley town centre, has been extended by adding 6 new works. East Riding of Yorkshire Council is joining forces with partners across Europe in a project that aims to reduce CO2 emissions and increase bicycle use by 10 per cent within targeted groups.
The council is hosting the first Bicycles and Intelligent Transport Systems (BITS) Cycling Academy in Beverley on Thursday 26 September, with the aim of bringing together anyone interested in smart cycling and the use of intelligent transport systems to increase the uptake and safety of cycling.
The East Riding Festival of Words presents a Murder Day on Saturday, 19 October at Beverley Memorial Hall.
There will be an array of crime authors, put together by the Murder Squad, including Cath Staincliffe, and an expert panel of bestselling authors: Margaret Murphy, Helen Pepper, and Ann Cleeves.
The East Riding Festival of Words will be back from 15 – 20 October, bringing popular authors to the local area to talk about murder, belonging and a great deal more besides.
Writers including Christy Lefteri, Ann Cleeves and Jessica Fellowes will all be in Beverley, as part of the event organised by East Riding Libraries.
East Riding Youth Dance returns later this month to Beverley with the group looking for new people to sign up.
Youth dance groups are taking place for 12 weeks in six areas of the East Riding including Beverley. These will take place at the Memorial Hall on Tuesdays from 26 February.
