The Spring Dayfest Literature Event Heads To Beverley This Week

Tickets are selling well for The Spring Dayfest, a full day mini-festival featuring a hand-picked selection of Northern Writers. It will place at the Treasure House in Beverley on Saturday, 11 May.  

Authors have been promoted by New Writing North. They work to promote and support writers in the North of England.  This event is a prelude to the 2019 Festival of Words, which will take place in October.

Kind-hearted couple, Kim and Paul Mankel wanted to make a difference to the Oncology Unit at Castle Hill Hospital’s Queen’s Centre after the bride underwent treatment for thyroid cancer. 

The groom’s mum was also looked after by a team of dedicated doctors and nurses at the centre. Also varying friends and family have needed the unit’s assistance.

The former Captain of Beverley and East Riding Golf Club presented the founder of the Daisy Appeal with a cheque for more than £2,500 from fund-raising events held during 2018.

Steve Fox, who stepped down as Captain at the end of the year, said he selected Daisy for the donation because of connections with cancer and because it is a local charity.
