From the bestselling author of the much-loved classic, Madame Doubtfire, to discovering the joys of new authors, Hull’s much-loved family festival, The Big Malarkey Festival returns on Saturday 26 and Sunday 27 June 2021 with a programme centred around playfulness, discovery and simple joys of connecting with nature.
Preparation is underway for the return of Hull’s much-loved family festival, The Big Malarkey, this summer.
Hosted by Hull Libraries, the team is hoping to bring a smile to people’s faces and welcome families back with an invitation to come together to celebrate and experience the magic of The Big Malarkey Festival.
Hull Culture and Leisure Ltd have today revealed their summer activity programmes. The plans will begin today and be available until Friday 4 September for families to enjoy.
With events limited due to the ongoing Covid-19 restrictions, 2020’s programme includes a range of activities that can be done in at leisure and are accessible via HCAL’s website.

Following a successful school’s programme last week in Hull’s ‘Malarkey Park’, The Big Malarkey Festival gates opened on Saturday for a two-day jam-packed programme that has inspired families of all ages.
The first names for this year’s Big Malarkey Festival, Hull’s annual children’s literature festival, have been announced.
The announcement follows the festival securing funding from Arts Council England and James Reckitt Library Trust, meaning the festival will return for at least the next two years.
