A poignant object is featured in Beverley’s First World War exhibition, “Keeping the Home Fires Burning: how the First World War was felt in Beverley”, which is currently on display in one of the newly renovated exhibition rooms in the Beverley Guildhall.
Today, February 27th 2014 marks sixty years of marriage between Bill Rice and his wife Joy Rice. The couple were introduced to one another at dance in Esh, County Durham by Laura Hutchinson who is the cousin of Bill.
Beverley Armed Forces Day proved to be a big hit this weekend. Thousands of people passed the through the town centre to enjoy the event that celebrates the Armed Forces past and present.
Thousands of people came to the Beverley Westwood to enjoy a giant bonfire and fireworks display organised by the Beverley Lions. The fire was lit by the Mayor of Beverley Margaret Pinder, Laura Fox and Geoff Rawson.

The Beverley Lions held their Charter Dinner at the Tickton Grange Hotel. This was the 51st dinner held by the Lions and was a black tie affair with Bill Rice acting as toast master to guests that included Beverley Mayor Bessie Foot.
