Delegates attending the recent East Yorkshire Local Food Network (EYLFN) Spring Conference, held at Bishop Burton College, have been told how local food is continuing to grow in popularity and availability.

Chaired by Graham Ward OBE, the line up of speakers included presentations from John Geldard, who founded the highly-successful Plumgarths Farm Shop and Café, in the Lake District, and Sue Nelson of events business Yorkshire Food Finder.

Beverley and Bishop Burton College will again take part in Yorkshire’s oldest rugby seven-a-side tournament, the 59th John Smiths Pock 7s, at Pocklington RUFC, next Friday (14 April).

The event has been held in Pocklington every Good Friday since 1959, and it has grown from humble beginnings into one of Yorkshire’s biggest sporting and social days out, with the local rugby fraternity plus many ‘ex-pats’ making their way to Percy Road for an annual Easter reunion.

An exhibition took place at the college featuring a visit from leading interior lining supplier British Gypsum. The visit was organised and co-ordinated in partnership by Hull-based construction firm Hobson & Porter and UK materials supplier Jewson.
