The council’s Sport, Play & Arts Service are working with St Nicholas Community Connect group in Beverley to help increase participation in the group.
There will be a taster session of gentle activities on Monday, 1 July at St Nicholas Community Hall, Holme Church Lane, Beverley.
Older people from villages across the East Riding have taken part in a bi-annual sports competition which is designed to combat social isolation and increase fitness.
Quite possibly the best squash club in the area, that is how one member, Phil Moses feels about Beverley Squash and Racketball Club after a season that has seen the club enjoy so much success.
Residents and visitors to the East Riding will get the chance to see the Paralympic Flame at Beverley Minster on Friday, 24 August, from 5-6.30pm.

On a wonderful warm evening Beverley Town Bowls Club Pairs entertained Little Weighton A team at the Norwood Recreation Ground. The green was in superb condition but the result was not in Beverley’s favour losing 69 shots to 91.
Beverley Town Bowling Club hosted their 26th Whistle Stop bowling event at the Norwood Recreation Ground on Sunday. Competitors from around Yorkshire took part in quick-fire version of the traditional game of lawn bowls. A new exhibition “Nature’s Fairest Forms” will go on show at Beverley Art Gallery between 24 October – 28 November. The exhibition brings together the work of two artists, Dryden Rooney and Barbara Wood.
