The 2019 Tour de Yorkshire is just around the corner and residents will have two opportunities to see some of the world’s top cyclists pass through the East Riding.
On Thursday, 2 May, stage one of the men’s race will start in Doncaster and cyclists, including the four-time Tour de France and double Olympic bronze medallist Chris Froome, will make their way through the East Riding to the finish line in Selby.
Following the initial workshop releases, ArtWaves Festival is proud to be unveiling the full programme for the fifth visual arts event returning to Bridlington Spa on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 June, with the ArtWaves Fringe commencing on Monday 17 June.
This year’s event will be the biggest visual art showcase yet, bringing traditional, digital, contemporary and urban art through a vibrant programme curated for all; from the experienced artist to those simply looking to get creative.
The highly successful Bridlington Seafood Festival will make a welcome return to the town’s seafront on the weekend of 15-16 June 2019.
The seafood festival is led by the Holderness Coast Fisheries Local Action Group (FLAG) with funding from the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund and East Riding of Yorkshire Council.

Lord Sugar, most famous for his role leading BBC TV’s The Apprentice, founded the hugely successful electronics company, Amstrad, in 1968 and served as chairman of Tottenham Hotspur between 1991 and 2001.
ArtWaves has announced the return of the Open Air Painting Competition ‘Paint Out’ as part of the 2019 Festival offering in June 2019.
Paint Out encourages artists to brave the elements of the East Yorkshire Coast and put their plein air painting skills to the test for the chance of winning a £200 prize at the festival.
Visitors to the Beverley Treasure House will be able to to find out more about the life and work of composer, conductor and director of music at Bridlington Spa, Herman Darewski.
As part of the current exhibition, there will be Darewski-related handling material to take a closer look at. Also, there will be original vinyl playing on the 1930s gramophone and screenings of Darewski’s films from the British Pathe archive.
A new exhibition celebrating the life and achievements of Herman Darewski will be at the Treasure House in Beverley from Saturday, 2 February to Saturday, 30 March.
Herman Darewski was the musical director at Bridlington Spa for nine summer seasons during the 1920s and 30s.

Writer, broadcaster, actor and, former MP Gyles Brandreth is the first speaker to be announced for The Business Day 2019. Taking place on Friday 7 June at Bridlington Spa.
He will take his place amongst the growing alumni of celebrity hosts of the event; Naga Munchetty last year and Alexander Armstrong in 2017.

On the evening of Saturday 8 September, as part of the Bridlington Weekend of Motoring, Bridlington Spa, Tour Britannia and the RNLI join forces to present Out to Dinner with Abbie Eaton as part of the Bridlington Weekend of Motoring 2018.
Successful GT racing driver Abbie Eaton, who is from the East Riding of Yorkshire, has made repeated appearances on Amazon Prime’s The Grand Tour as the season two test driver.
