Hull and East Yorkshire’s premier tourism awards, the REYTAs, have achieved record entries yet again.
And such was the quality, the organisers, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) had to introduce an additional category during the short-listing process because of the “overwhelming” numbers vying for the honour of Remarkable Tourism Event.
Burton Constable Hall and Lit Up will premiere a new play this spring, revealing the surprising story behind the scenes of one of the East Riding’s most treasured stately homes, and legendary 18th century gardener Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown.
Written and directed by Rachel Feldberg, director of Ilkley Literature Festival, Mr Brown’s Directions is a complex story of love, loss, entanglement and disagreements.
The inaugural Burton Constable 10k race, organised by East Hull Harriers, took place last Sunday. The race was fast and flat, on trails through the grounds of Burton Constable Hall, landscaped by Capability Brown.

Graham Stuart, MP for Beverley and Holderness, has congratulated the Burton Constable Foundation on receiving a grant of £417,800 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.
Some 200 pupils from 45 primary schools come together at Burton Constable Hall near Sproatley at 4 pm on Tuesday 1 May for the final of this year’s East Riding Schools Orienteering Championships.
