Fans of a good murder mystery should be at Beverley Memorial Hall on Saturday, 20 October, for The Dead Good Day, part of the East Riding Festival of Words.
Hosted by popular local author and short storywriter Nick Quantrill, The Dead Good Day will be a chance to hear top crime writers in conversation about their latest works, and their careers to date.
Local authors will be featured heavily in the East Riding Festival of Words – the new look literature festival coming to the area in October.
The festival will be officially launched by Val Wood at Beverley Art Gallery on Thursday, 18 October, at 7.30pm. Val will be giving an exclusive reading of her latest novel, ‘A Place to Call Home’, which will be published in November.
Some dog owners across the East Riding are breaking the law by failing to keep the details on their dogs’ microchip up to date.
It’s a year since the new law came into force which requires all dogs to be microchipped with the correct details and since April 2016, East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s dog warden team have prosecuted six owners and issued 64 notices to amend details or have the dog chipped.
Best-selling local author David Mark visited Longcroft School Library to talk to English sixth form students about how he became a successful writer.
Mark, whose latest book Cruel Mercy is due for release in February 2017, has written a string of crime novels based around the character of DS Aector McAvoy, and set in Hull.
