Groups in the East Riding will be hosting events over the coming days as part of Fairtrade Fortnight.
An annual event, Fairtrade Fortnight runs until the 10 March. Locally here in the East Yorkshire events will happen in Cherry Burton and also Hornsea.
The East Riding has renewed its status as a Fairtrade county, a move welcomed by groups in Beverley and Cherry Burton.
Fairtrade helps to improve the lives of farmers and workers in the developing world by offering a fair price on goods produced.
Great excitement this year as not only did we say ‘Come on In to Fairtrade’ but also celebrated our 15th Birthday as a Fairtrade Village!
Two fabulous Fairtrade Birthday cakes were ceremonially cut and shared at the Fairtrade breakfast after a delicious feast produced by farmers from Fairtrade co-operatives and from Yorkshire.
Hull is proud to have successfully achieved Fairtrade City status once again, following its ongoing commitment to promoting Fairtrade principles.
The Lord Mayor of Hull, Councillor John Hewitt presented the certificate to the Fairtrade Partnership Group at Full Council.
