As we continue the roadmap out of lockdown and more businesses re-open, Hull City Council is continuing to work with the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) to carry out spot checks and inspections on local businesses.
Plans to transform how care within people’s homes are delivered will be discussed by Hull City Council.
As the contract for the delivery of homecare within people’s own homes comes to end on 31 December 2021, a number of options are being explored for the future of this vital service.
Hull City Council will begin to distribute £3m of grant funding to help support those providing care to the city’s most vulnerable residents during the coronavirus pandemic.
The grants have been provided by the Department of Health & Social Care’s Infection Control Fund to help with additional costs being faced by care providers who are caring for vulnerable residents in Hull.
The idea is that parents looking for something to entertain their toddlers can look online, spend a few seconds watching one of the video ideas, then recreate it at home.
The activities are themed around items people will have at home – including using the recycling or just having an impromptu dance party playing music through a phone.
Health leaders are encouraging pregnant women in Hull to take their first steps to stopping smoking following the release of figures stating almost 21% of pregnant women in the city smoke*.
Smoking during pregnancy not only increases mothers’ risk of cancer and related health issues, but can also have a huge effect on the health of the unborn child, including the child potentially suffering with asthma for life, increased risk of miscarriage and stillbirth or complications at and after birth.
A fitness project designed to increase levels of physical activity among pregnant women and new mums in Hull is hosting an event to celebrate its success and promote new and exciting sessions for 2017.
The Us Mums event takes place at Ennerdale Leisure Centre on Thursday 26 January from 11.30am – 2.30pm. New and expectant mums will have the chance to try a range of free taster sessions including Buggy Bootcamp, Yoga, pool party and Box Fit.

That’s the message to people across the city following the success of this year’s opening event, which saw more than 342,000 attend Sean McAllister’s Made in Hull and the installation of Blade by artist Nayan Kulkarni in Queen Victoria Square.
Hull City Council (HCC) has successfully secured £1.25m to help people who have a range of disabilities to live more independently.
The council successfully bid for part the Department of Health’s £25m fund for Housing and Technology for People with Learning Disabilities. The money will be used to adapt existing homes and kit out those currently empty ready for a new occupant.
