People gathered this evening in the Hengate Gardens for The Sunset Ceremony. Organised by Beverley Town Council this was the final event to be held to remember the start of the First World War.
Beverley Town Council has received £5,400 from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for a project, Street Shrines of Beverley, in Beverley, East Yorkshire.
On Saturday a service of re-dedication for our newly refurbished memorials in Hengate Memorial Gardens will be conducted by Reverend Becky Lumley from of St Mary’s Church.
In Beverley and in towns up and down the country people paid respect to those who have lost their lives while serving their country.
The Memorial Gardens in Hengate, Beverley, was again overflowing for the Remembrance Service this Sunday, showing the strength of feeling that the people of Beverley have for our Armed Forces. This morning pupils from Molescroft Primary School and Keldmarsh Primary School held a special Armistice Day assembly in Hengate Gardens. At 11am the teachers, pupils and veterans stood in silence for two minutes as a mark of respect those who have died while serving their country.
