A unique online collection of recordings of people sharing their memories of dance halls, picture houses and the Blitz has launched.
The oral archive includes colourful stories and experiences of people connected to Hull and will be available to listen to for free online at untoldhull.org
Residents of Hull and East Yorkshire are invited to get involved in an exciting social history exhibition, coming soon to the Treasure House in Beverley.
The exhibition Our Histories Revealed, which will open in May, 2018, is part of the wider project Africans in Hull and East Yorkshire, funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund.
The installation of Hull’s newest bespoke sculpture Solar Gate has begun. The 10 metre tall stainless steel structure was brought in to the city centre yesterday evening for the start of an installation process that will take a team of specialists a number of weeks to complete.
A flat-bed lorry with police escort and two cranes were used to bring the sculpture into the gardens and manoeuvre it into place. Now secure, work can begin to bring the piece of art to life.
The Museum Quarter Gardens and the Hull & East Riding Museum will be transformed into a prehistoric world, complete with a whole host of characters from the region’s ancient past on Saturday 22 July.

The famous chalk tower at Flamborough Head now boasts a new interpretation board, funded by East Riding of Yorkshire Council, in association with the Friends of the Chalk Tower.
The new board tells the story of the history of the tower, which was built in 1674 as a lighthouse by Sir John Clayton and George Blake. The tower contains 98 steps to the top.
