Historic Beverley Minster provided a spectacular backdrop to celebrate the academic achievements of students from University Centre Bishop Burton (UCBB), in its annual Graduation Ceremony.

Family, friends and special guests were welcomed by Governor Susan Hamer, to witness students graduate in a range of subjects including Animal Sciences, Agriculture, Environmental Conservation, Sport and Exercise Science, Criminology, Equine, Floristry and Teacher Training.

Yorkshire Continues to Develop as a Cloud Computing Hub Following £2 Million Investment

In 2023, the UK Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) greenlit a £6 million investment toward cloud computing research. £2 million of that was earmarked for a cloud computing hub in Yorkshire as part of an effort by several British universities including the University of Leeds and the University of York, with aims to create digital links between local and international business communities. Since then, several successful tech companies have emerged from the area.

Back in October when Beverley’s opposition visited Beaver Park it was a tense affair and a high-scoring game led to the away team Huddersfield Laund Hill just securing the win in the dying seconds of the game, 36-38, in this return match on a wet dark afternoon in Huddersfield, the Beavers were able to return the favour, literally winning the game with the last kick of the match to win 25-27 in what proved to be a thrilling start to the 2023 campaign for both teams.

Happily, for both these sides, there is no relegation from Yorkshire One this season; otherwise, this might have been a tense relegation dogfight. 

In the event it was an enjoyable and entertaining game with plenty of running rugby; carefree, almost, with nothing much at stake.  Huddersfield YMCA must have one of the most pleasant playing grounds in the league and with ideal conditions and a fine sunny afternoon, there was every reason to hope for a good game.

Had Beverley played with the same finesse and vigour as they did in the thrilling victory against Huddersfield YMCA they would almost certainly have won this game comfortably.
