Hull’s City Open Top Bus Tours Return - And They Are Better Than Ever

Hull’s open top city tour will return for 2018, and this time it’ll run for even longer. The Hull Explorer open top tour bus was launched in Summer 2017, taking visitors on a guided tour around the city to see Hull’s most iconic sights, such as Queen Victoria Square, Old Town, Hull Minster, The Deep and the Marina.

Run by local bus company EYMS, will run for the early May bank holiday weekend and May half term this year, as well as an extended run over the summer holidays and follows what was a successful 2017 season.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has commissioned a colossal artwork by Gary Saunt, which goes on display free of charge at the Treasure House in Beverley on Saturday, 21 October, as the latest stage of its contribution to Hull UK City of Culture 2017

The huge digital painting – measuring over 20 metres in length – has been produced to celebrate the transformational impact of this cultural event on Hull and the East Riding. Gary’s artwork takes the viewer on a cultural pilgrimage from Beverley to Hull.

RIBA Opens Its Monumental Installation For Hull UK City Of Culture 2017

A Hall for Hull with ‘Trois Points de Vue’ – a joint commission from The Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) and Hull UK City of Culture 2017.

Officially unveiled to the public on  Monday 2nd October. The monumental temporary installation has transformed Trinity Square with sixteen galvanized steel columns arranged in a grid formation in front of Hull Minster to form a new ‘outdoor room’ for the city.

Hull will soon be joining the likes of London, Edinburgh and Bath as a brand new city tour bus is announced.

The Hull Explorer will be an open top bus which will take visitors on a tour around the city centre’s most fascinating sights. Calling at the Cenotaph, Queen Victoria Square, the Wilberforce Monument, Old Town, the Museums Quarter, Hull Minster/Trinity Square, The Deep and the Marina, a tour guide will tell the story of the city, giving a fascinating insight into Hull, past and present.

An Electric Fence Set To Go ‘Live’ Inside Hull Minster

A provocative and interactive art installation exploring barriers within our society is set to appear at Hull Minster throughout Hull UK City of Culture 2017’s Freedom Season.

The Electric Fence, inspired by the everyday experience of people facing hate crime around the world and the dark horrors that have resulted throughout history, will be open to the public at Hull Minster in Trinity Square from 4 July through to the end of September.
