The world’s largest showcase of British puppetry in Beverley this July is bringing classic fairy tales to life to wow families and kids in popular venues around East Yorkshire town.
Anna Ingleby, co-director of the Beverley Puppet Festival, said: “Over two days and three nights the festival is a gathering of all that is great in British puppet theatre and showcases some quite remarkable work right here in the heart of East Yorkshire.
Beverley Puppet Festival will be back bigger and better than ever this summer, Friday 15th July to Sunday 17th July, as a giant, fantastical creatures roam Beverley’s historic streets, and tiny, magical worlds are revealed to unsuspecting audiences.
This year’s Bridlington Kite Festival drew in big crowds at the weekend with kite-enthusiasts treated to a range of different shapes and designs in the air.
More than 100 kites took to the skies, including Oscar, the world’s largest teddy bear, Bertie Bassett, a stingray, Mario, and a 100m-long dragon made by hand in Bali, according to owner Malcolm Goodman who brought it along to Sewerby Fields in only its second outing.
The East Riding Festival of Words 2019 will once again include the ever-popular Children’s Festival, with events across the area.
The Gruffalo Grand Tour will see Carol Burton bring Julia Donaldson’s story to life with interactive puppet storytelling at libraries including Beverley.

Beverley Puppet Festival has announced a puppet version of this much loved fictional family over the festival weekend on Sunday 15th July. A 24-foot ark is set to be built in Trinity Square as part of a fantastic festival in Hull. Noah, as well as other tales, will be recreated at a family festival at Hull Minister on Saturday June 24.

Alice and the White Rabbit will be performed at the East Riding Theatre on Sunday 1st November at 2PM. Lasting 45 mins tickets are £8 adults, £7 children and just £26 for family ticket.
