The summer months herald an extremely busy time for any running club and your local club, Beverley AC, is no exception to that.
July not only saw the continued success of the Walkington 10k event, but also several notable performances from Beverley runners at local events and some from further afield.
It’s been a busy few weeks for Beverley AC athletes, with several athletes taking part in two half marathons and some members completing longer runs too.
Beverley Athletic Club runners took part in two very different events last weekend. On Saturday, four members made the trip to Grassington to take part in the Wharfedale Trail Half Marathon.
Beverley Athletic Club’s runners scooped age group prizes in last Sunday’s Humber Bridge 10k road race. Run by City of Hull AC, this is a well-established and popular race which has been growing for the last few years.

Beverley Athletic Club’s James Pearson, Matt Chadwick and Andy Johnson are celebrating after winning silver medals in the team competition at the Northern 10 Mile Road Running Championships held in conjunction with the Thirsk 10 last Sunday. Over 300 runners and walkers set off from Brantingham village to compete in the annual Rudolph’s Romp 24-mile challenge event on Saturday 5 March. The event had been postponed from December last year due to heavy snow. In contrast to last year’s washout, conditions were dry and sunny for this year’s Derwentwater 10 road race which took place in the Lake District on Sunday. The race attracted a record entry of 580 runners, 15 of them from Beverley AC. Conditions were perfect for running on Sunday and almost 300 athletes turned out for the Haltemprice 10k, thirty of them from Beverley Athletic Club. The course follows a challenging route through Kirk Ella and out to Swanland with the first 7 kilometres uphill. Seventeen members of Beverley Athletic Club travelled to Robin Hoods Bay last Saturday to take part in the Smugglers Trod challenge event on the North Yorkshire Moors. Four ultra-distance athletes from Beverley Athletic Club competed in the Woldsman 50-mile Challenge Event last Saturday. Organised by the East Yorkshire Branch of the Long Distance Walkers Association, competitors can choose to run or walk.
