The second race in the East Yorkshire Cross-Country League took place last Sunday over a challenging 6.6 mile course around Drewton Wold near South Cave. It was a misty and mild autumn morning and conditions were mainly dry underfoot with a couple of muddy sections. A large contingent from Beverley Athletic Club travelled to Scarborough last Sunday to take part in the McCain Yorkshire Coast 10k and fun run. With a field of more than 1000 runners in the 10k the competition was strong but there were some notable performances from Beverley athletes and 14 of them finished in the top ten for their age group. The first race of the 2011/2012 season of the East Yorkshire Cross-Country League took place last Sunday at Bishop Wilton and more than 150 athletes from eight local running clubs lined up at the start.
