The What’s On community event at East Riding Leisure Beverley in memory of Ivan Usher was a huge success – it is estimated that around 1100 people attended.
Over 250 people took part in the 13 taster activities offered; 24 community groups shared information about what is going on in Beverley, and six local junior sports clubs were involved in playing matches from Under 7’s up to Under 15’s.
Sunday, 26 June, 2022, will see a major community event at East Riding Leisure Beverley, when many local organisations, sports clubs and local residents will come together for the Beverley What’s On Community Event in memory of Ivan Usher, from 10am to 3pm.
Those attending will have the chance to try out a wide range of activities and sports, support local clubs taking part in football and rugby matches, and find out more about what’s going on in Beverley.
The East Riding Leisure Centre in Beverley will host women’s walking football for the Over 50s.
It will take place from 10.30 am to 11.30 am on Tuesday, 17 May. After that, the sessions will be held every week for 10 weeks. The first session will be free, and subsequent sessions will cost £2.80 per person.
There will be a major event taking place at East Riding Leisure Beverley on Sunday, 26 June, 2022, when many local organisations, sports clubs, and local residents will come together for the Ivan Usher Community Celebration from 10am to 3pm.
This event will take place as a partnership between the council’s health and wellbeing team, East Riding Leisure Beverley, and the Usher family, and it will pay tribute to the memory of Ivan Usher, after whom Beverley Town FC’s stand is named.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council is working with Fitmums and Friends to host an introductory Nordic Walking workshop for those living with Parkinson’s and related conditions.
The free one-hour workshop will be held at East Riding Leisure Beverley in Flemingate on Thursday, 28 April at 11.30am.
Volunteer walk leaders have put their walking boots back on and are keen to welcome walkers back to their walks!
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s programme of Health Walks has been re-launched in line with government guidelines to encourage people to get out and about and enjoy the natural beauty of the area, whilst staying fit and healthy.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s sport and play service is working in partnership with East Riding Leisure Beverley to launch a new multi-activity session.
These new sessions will be suited to those people who would like to take part in some fun and friendly activity.
East Riding’s Walking for Health programme has celebrated its 16th year of providing health walks for the community.
The first walk was launched in October 2003 at what was then Beverley Leisure Complex, with one walk being led once a week. There are currently 22 different locations covering large towns and some villages, offering 1,031 yearly, 86 monthly and 21 weekly walks.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Walking for Health Scheme have joined forces with Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust Cancer Survivorship Team to create a fantastic new evening walk.
