New Artistic Director, Laurie Sansom, today announced his first production for Northern Broadsides will be a revival of J.M. Barrie’s rarely performed farce Quality Street.
The production will open in February 2020 in Halifax, the home of Quality Street™ the UK’s most popular brand of chocolates. Barrie’s play was so popular in its day that it gave the chocolates their name.
On Saturday, 27 July, visitors to the Treasure House in Beverley will be able to visit the award-winning Wildlife Photographer of the Year exhibition, and from 11am – 1pm, there will be a showcase of the stunning imagery that award-winning local photographer Steve Race has captured.
Hull-born artist Patrick Coyle will deliver a site-specific performance entitled Kingstupon Hull Stumption in the city centre on Thursday 25 July.
The performance is a guided walking tour of a fictional water-bottling plant, where Coyle speaks a futuristic local language to explain how the people of Hull have adapted.

Herman Darewski was the musical director at Bridlington Spa for nine summer seasons during the 1920s and 30s.
Hull City Council has been successful in securing a confirmed £281,100 National Lottery grant to fully restore the Guildhall Greenwich Time Ball.
Dating back to 1918, Hull’s Guildhall Greenwich Time Ball is the only such timepiece on a municipal building and one of only a few nationally. It reflects the importance of maritime timekeeping, the link with navigation and the need to fix longitude from the John Harrison period (1720s) to the present.
It’s Different For Girls, a brand new musical by local all-female theatre company She Productions, is inspired by Hull’s own pioneering 1960s girl band, Mandy & the Girlfriends.
Their unique all-girl line-up attracted the crowds both in their home town, London, and eventually took them to perform to the US troops in Germany.
