The Pittaway Beverley 10k road race saw a record 1,850 runners descend on the town for the 25th running of the event on Sunday 13 May, which was started by the Archbishop of York, Dr John Sentamu.
Organised by Beverley Athletic Club, the run has become one of the best-loved annual events in the town’s calendar, attracting thousands of runners, spectators and Beverley residents alike.
Beverley AC has seen an extremely busy summer, with members running in several high profile events, with some very noteworthy performances.
Fourteen Beverley runners were fortunate enough to experience the huge Great North Run on 10 September, with nine completing the 13.1 mile course in under two hours.

Beverley Athletic Club’s runners scooped age group prizes in last Sunday’s Humber Bridge 10k road race. Run by City of Hull AC, this is a well-established and popular race which has been growing for the last few years.
Athletes from local running clubs and from further afield gathered at Great Hatfield last Sunday to take part in the Hornsea 1/3 Marathon. Beverley AC put in an excellent performance, fielding the winner of the women’s race and two top-ten runners in the men’s race.
Last weekend saw the 2nd race in the Beverley AC Handicap race series, points being awarded for improvements in times gauged against previous running times.
