East Riding Archives – responsible for safeguarding and making available the documentary heritage of the East Riding of Yorkshire – have just selected an automated digital archiving solution called Preservica, and launched a new site, offering access to a new public digital archive.
From Wednesday, 18 May through Saturday, 4 June, East Riding Libraries will celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee with various fun activities and events.
The event will be held in Beverley at the local library on Friday 27 May. Places for the event in Beverley can be booked online.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s health and wellbeing team are working in partnership with East Riding Leisure Beverley to launch a new multi-activity session, ‘Lets’ Get Moving’, suited to those people who would like to take part in some fun and friendly activity.
People can find their voice and make music with a group of friendly people at Cuppa and a Chorus. The meetings in Beverley are scheduled for the first and third Thursdays of every month from 9.30 to 11 a.m.
Participants can sing in a group for free and meet new people through the Cuppa and a Chorus session. There are nine libraries in the East Riding where sessions are held twice monthly.
Active Coast, the council’s popular programme for residents and visitors to explore and enjoy life in the East Riding, has organised free beach art sessions along the coast this April to help people try something new.
Beach Art with James Brunt will take place in Hornsea this month, where visitors can join James in a beach art project and try their hand at stone stacking and/or sand drawing.
The All Ride adapted cycle scheme in Bridlington will return for 2022.
Running every Friday between 10am and 3pm from Victoria Terrace on Bridlington’s North Promenade, the scheme will restart on Friday, 22 April, with the final session on 28 October.
Sunday, 4 September will see a brand-new event in Bridlington – the inaugural Bridlington Beach 5k and Fun Run.
The event will take place entirely on the beach and is restricted to 300 runners. There will be a Fun Run for children and those who do not wish to run the full 5k.
East Riding of Yorkshire Council has announced that the popular Bridlington Park and Ride bus service will start on Saturday, 9 April and will run until 30 October, seven days a week.
The Park and Ride site near South Cliff Holiday Park will be open from 7am – 8pm, and charges will apply between those times. Transport links into town will start at 9.30am; times of the last bus back to the site will vary throughout the season.
For those unsure what to do with the little ones or not so little ones during the Easter school holidays, East Riding Leisure centres are running activities.

Your poem should be no more than 45 lines, on one side of A4 paper. All entries must be submitted and paid for by Saturday, 27 November 2021 at 11.59pm.
