Ten members of Beverley Athletic Club joined Olympic medal winners and more than 40,000 other people in the Great North Run last Sunday. Most of the Beverley athletes had run this race several times before and knew what to expect but for those making their debut it was an amazing experience
Athletes from local running clubs gathered at Great Hatfield last Sunday to take part in the Hornsea Third Marathon. The race was a designated handicap race for Beverley Athletic Club and the club fielded a squad of 28 runners.

Beverley Leisure Centre played host to the second Beverley Sprint Triathlon last Sunday. With 242 finishers the event attracted almost sixty more competitors than the inaugural event last year. Organised by Freebird Events of York, the triathlon consisted of a 400m swim, a 20k cycle ride and a 5k run. These distances allow experienced and novice triathletes to compete together. For the second year in succession temperatures soared for the Edinburgh Marathon last Sunday. Although considered the fastest marathon course in the UK the 25 degree heat took its toll on many runners and tested their stamina and will-power to the limit. The East Hull 20 road race attracted a field of almost 400 runners last Sunday, most of them using the event to prepare for the London Marathon next month.
