A new event was added to the long distance off-road calendar last weekend with the inaugural Golden Fleece Circuit. The challenge event was a huge success with more than 300 people taking part.

Conditions were perfect for running last Sunday when more than 200 local athletes celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Haltemprice 10k. Beverley Athletic Club fielded a reduced squad as the race coincided with the 10k at Scarborough but they were rewarded with several veteran’s prizes and new personal bests. Several Beverley athletes travelled to the Yorkshire Dales last Saturday to compete in the Wharfedale half-marathon and Rugger Ramble. The half-marathon is a category BL fell race with some challenging terrain which included a 1 in 3 hill. Beverley Athletic Club’s James Pearson, Matt Chadwick and Andy Johnson are celebrating after winning silver medals in the team competition at the Northern 10 Mile Road Running Championships held in conjunction with the Thirsk 10 last Sunday.
