Sam Wordsworth from Beverley has described being involved with events marking the passing of Queen Elizabeth II as an honour.
LSgt Wordsworth is in the 1st Battalion Coldstream Guards. They are playing a pivotal role in events being held in London to honour the UK’s longest-serving Monarch who died on 8 September.
Local charities helping the most vulnerable in North and East Yorkshire during this global crisis are being supported through grant-giving by Two Ridings Community Foundation.
While the Foundation’s Coronavirus Community Fund total is approaching £1million, £500,000 of which is new donations raised over the past month, more is needed and the Foundation is making a plea to anyone who can to help by donating to the appeal.

Darth Vader and local weatherman Paul Hudson were hunted down in Tickton this weekend. They were just two of a host of lookalike scarecrows hidden around the town for the annual Tickton Scarecrow Hunt. As well as Vader and Hudson, other effigies of famous people that were found included Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, as well as Yoda and Darth Maul from Star Wars. The Royal Wedding was celebrated in Beverley as it was across the rest of the UK with street parties. In London around a million people lined the streets as Prince William and Kate Middleton got married at Westminster Abbey.
