Tour de Yorkshire Roadshow To Be Hosted In Beverley

Businesses, community groups and members of the public in the Bridlington and Beverley area who are interested in getting involved in the 2020 Tour de Yorkshire are being invited to a free roadshow.

This year’s Tour de Yorkshire will start in Beverley on Thursday, 30 April. It will go through Tickton, Leven, Catwick, Sigglesthorne, Seaton, Hornsea, Atwick, Skipsea, Beeford, Lissett, Bridlington, Sewerby, Marton, Flamborough, Bempton and Buckton.

Council Tax Set To Increase By 3.99% In East Riding

Councillors have agreed to increase the council’s part of the council tax charge in the East Riding by 3.99% for the 2020-21 financial year.

The increase, which was agreed at a Full Council meeting on 13 February, will raise £6.8million of additional income for the council and will result in an increase of £57.64 a year for a Band D property.

The eyes of the cycling world will be once again on East Yorkshire as Beverley will host the start of the 2020 Tour de Yorkshire.

At the launch event held in Leeds, race organisers Welcome to Yorkshire and Amaury Sport Organisation (ASO) confirmed that stage one of the men’s race on Thursday, 30 April will start in the East Riding and take in some villages that have never seen the race before.

Beverley School Children Convince Council To Bee Nicer

East Riding of Yorkshire Council has changed the planting proposals for two major highway improvement schemes currently in progress, to encourage and support bees, following a request from three local schoolchildren.

Daisy, Jemima and Orlaith are all pupils at St Mary’s School in Beverley and contacted the leader of the council, Councillor Richard Burton, to ask if bees could be supported when major infrastructure schemes are completed.

East Riding of Yorkshire Council’s Cabinet agreed to suspend all parking charges in the four weekends before Christmas as well as the weekend of Remembrance Sunday, for the next three years.

On Saturday, 21 September, and running alongside the 2019 UCI Road World Championships, Beverley will host the start of the 2019 Para-Cycling International which will see world-class athletes leave Saturday Market and race through Bishop Burton, Market Weighton, Holme on Spalding Moor, Foggathorpe and Bubwith to the finish in Harrogate.

Countdown Is On To The Start Of Para-Cycling International Race In Beverley

Some of the world’s top para-cyclists, including Beverley-born double world and Paralympic champion Adam Duggleby, will be in the town next month for the start of the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International.

Adam, who is the tandem pilot for partially-sighted Steve Bate, will join around 60 cyclists in Beverley’s Saturday Market on Saturday, 21 September for the start of the Yorkshire 2019 Para-Cycling International.
