All of the Beverley Town CC teams produced good performances over the weekend to register two league wins, two winning draws and an excellent cup win. A youthful 4th XI led the way on Saturday, followed by the 3rds who continued their good form with a third league win and the two senior sides both scored well over 200 runs and claimed comfortable winning draws. The icing on the cake…
Both Beverley Town Cricket Club teams (2ndXI and 3rd XI) had to settle for draws on Saturday after heavy rain caused both games to be abandoned. Beverley will be slightly disappointed with proceedings as both teams posted good totals before the rain came. The 2nd XI posted 214 for 7 off 45 overs. After loosing quick wickets Ben Fish (43) and Pete Hynes (56) rebuilt the innings with positive play….
Beverley Town Cricket Club4th started their season under new skipper Rich Simpson with a narrow win over Sutton 2nd XI in a remarkable game at the Norwood Recreation Ground. Batting first on another excellent wicket Town made a good start through Ash Lord (35) and the returning Rob Todd. Todd, looking as though he had never been away, adopted his usual no nonsense approach and was harsh on anything too…
After finishing top of their merit league Beverley 2nds entertained 4th place Scarborough Vikings in their play off semi final a week after narrowly beating the same opposition 19-12 in their final league match. An almost full strength Beavers, only missing injured captain Rob Vaux and the unwell Jamie Gill, could not have wished for a better start as from their first foray into the visitors half fly half Ben…
After a week’s break Beverley RUFC return to league action this Saturday with a visit to Birkenhead Park, for their National League 3 (North) encounter. Birkenhead Park are in a similar position in the league table to the Beavers with a similar playing record so a close encounter is on the cards. Birkenhead is always a difficult place to visit and record a win, but has historically been a happy…
After a string of narrow defeats which left them sitting alarmingly low in the league Beverley RUFC badly needed this victory. Rochdale hardly looked like a side still without a win this season and contributed hugely to an entertaining game. For most of the time the fast flowing rugby played by both sides matched the fine autumn sunshine. Well, it did for the first half at any rate. In the…
Beverley RUFC make the relatively short journey to Bradford on Saturday where they take on Bradford & Bingley in the National League 3 North fixture. They will need to improve on their showing of last week when they came second best to a physical Rossendale side which bullied them from start to finish. Beverley could not obtain any satisfactory set piece ball and the 24-36 scoreline rather flattered them. It…
Beverley RUFC are keeping their fingers crossed that the threatened return of the arctic weather does not materialise this weekend. They are scheduled to travel to Sheffield to face Sheffield Tigers in the National League 3 North fixture and should the game go ahead it will be their first taste of competitive rugby for 6 weeks. Beverley RUFC are just 7 points behind the Tigers, and have a game in…
Having made a flying start to the season with 2 wins and 2 bonus points from their first 2 games, Beverley RUFC travel this Saturday to take on Chester in their first away game. This will be a tough test for Chester finished runners up in the Midlands equivalent of this league last season and are usually difficult to beat at their own ground. However, Beverley’s confidence will be high…
