Members of the public joined businesses and veterans as they stopped to pause at 11AM to pay tribute to those who have lost their lives while serving their country.
This year was a real test as the date fell on a Saturday, one of the busiest times in the town centre of Beverley.
Rod Evans, the Poppy Appeal Organiser for Beverley says that Beverley is a Poppy Friendly Town.
Mr. Evans, was speaking from their stall on Saturday Market where he and volunteers will be based for the next two weeks raising money for the Poppy Appeal.
The Royal British Legion’s Beverley Poppy Appeal 2016 has so far raised more than £46,000.
Since the annual Appeal launched on 29th October 2016, Beverley’s fundraising team collected in local supermarkets, shops and schools.
With The Royal British Legion’s 2016 Poppy Appeal well under way run and running until Saturday 12th November, Rod Evans, the Acting Chairman wants people to rethink Remembrance.
Donations from people in Beverley and the surrounding villages to the Poppy Appeal have totalled over £39,000, smashing last year’s total.
