Cherry Burton Residents are celebrating after they finally got a safe footpath in the village following a wait lasting over 10 years.
Funding for the project to install the ‘Cherry Burton Trod’ was awarded by the EU LEADER project, together with a contribution from the Parish Council.
Ros Stanley from Cherry Burton who lost her engagement ring in Beverley collected a new one from local business Prescott Jewellers.
Her husband for the second time put his hand in his pocket to replace the ring, which cost him £40 some years ago, which was all the money he had at the time when he proposed as a student.
Campaigners in Cherry Burton are celebrating after “Fairtrade Village” signs were erected by the East Riding of Yorkshire Council on each of the four roads leading into the village.
Thanks to the generous support of village-based businesses who funded the signs, the village now has visible reminders of its status for residents and visitors alike.
Cherry Burton celebrated Fairtrade Fortnight by joining with the rest of the country in holding a Big Fairtrade Breakfast in the St Michael’s Centre on Saturday March 5th.
